“Congrats! You are going to be a mommy.”
When I heard these words from my Gynaec, I knew that my WHOLE LIFE is going to CHANGE right from this moment.
I always used to weigh around 54 kilos. By the end of my 9th month, I was about 65.5 kilos!
Pregnancy is probably the only time when women get excited to see numbers adding to her weight.
My baby girl is now 6 months old.
I’m going to SHARE WITH YOU 5 BIG CHANGES I went through after my baby was born.
Here is my ‘MOM EXPERIENCE’ :
Trust me! There is NO WAY out of this.
“Baby! Change the channel. It’s time for my favourite serial”.
Gone are those good old days.
All I know is where the TV is placed in my house.
After my baby was born, I DON’T EVEN KNOW if we use Tata Sky or Airtel or whatever is available out there.
Those days of waking up late, going to a spa, quality time with my hubby are all mere memories.
By the end of the day, I wonder where my whole time went because the only thing that I remember about the day is:
Roaming around the house like a ZOMBIE: No proper sleep, just can’t remember if I had lunch or not and I probably didn’t take a shower.
Pedicure, Manicure, Shopping, Movies, etc., have all gone out the window.
All that I’m worried about is my child, her food, her clothes and her health.
“Hey Vivek(my husband), SRK’s new movie is releasing this Friday. I’m booking tickets.”
Oh relax! You can’t even think of this.
Relationship with your partner CHANGES BIG TIME!
Forget planning for movies, I have NO CLUE what Vivek even wore today – something that I used to be extremely particular about before my baby was born.
All I know which diaper brand AISHWARYA uses for ARADHYA (Thanks to my extensive research on diapers).
“Girls, let’s go shopping and catch up for lunch”.
Alas! This plan of yours will never find an accurate date.
Relationship with my friends CHANGED COMPLETELY.
My conversation with my friends goes something like this:
Friend: “Hey, what’s up? What are you doing?”
I have the phone in one hand and baby in the other.
Me: “Umm nothing much. Just trying to put Shriya(my baby) to sleep.”
Friend: “Oh! How is she doing?”
I Notice that Shriya is starting to whine a bit.
Me:”Hey I’ll just call you back in 2 mins ok.”
Shriya was probably fine, but I love her soooo much that even a small sound she makes is enough for me to STOP everything and give her my COMPLETE ATTENTION.
“I just bought a pack of Diapers 2 days ago! And it’s already over.”
I guarantee you that you will go through diapers like you NEVER IMAGINED!
According to my diaper research (which I mentioned earlier), statistics say that a baby up to 5 months, goes through around 10-12 diapers a day.
Last week I ordered 10 diaper packs online. The shipping and delivery people must have had a hearty laugh!
“My hair is all messed up. Get me a comb“.
DON’T EVEN TRY combing every now and then. You will look just the same after a couple of minutes.
Babies love pulling hair and you need to build up the guts of loitering around with messy hair.
Wider hips, puffy eyes, delivery scars, larger feet are now all a PART OF MY LIFE now.
So love yourself despite all the odds. I’m very sure, you would!
At the end of the day, the fact is, I love it all.
I love changing diapers,
I love not eating on time,
I love not bathing on time.
But I don’t love my new body so much. I’m working on that. Haha! (I try and work out a bit every evening).
I love all these changes in my life and it’s all because I LOVE MY BABY and I’m sure you do too.
